Evaluation Question 3 - Part 2

Evaluation Question 4

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research and Planning

We used various technology to help us to conduct research for our documentary and to plan how it will be filmed. We used the internet to research about the topic to help us get an idea about what content we could use in our documentary. We found different companies on the internet such as Laughology and the Comedy Trust through which we were able to arrange interviews. We also found various agencys for famous comedians and attempted to arrange interviews with them although none of which were successful. We used Hotmail email messaging service to contact the various companies and agencies. We also used Youtube to find etracts from the existing documentaries. We also used microsoft office prorams such as Word to create research questionnaires as well as mise-en-scene for the interview with the founder of Laughology.

Construction

For the construction of our three media products we ued a number of different technologies. For all the filming we used a DV camera, tripod and microphones. we used these to film our interviews, voxpops, montages and stock footage. We used the camera and tripod together to be able to perform camera movements such as panning and tilting. To film the assembly reactions for cutaways we used five different cameras in different positions filming people from different angles. We used a digital stills camera to keep a record of all the times we filmed and also we used it to take images for our print advert which we then manipulated using Adobe Photoshop using tools such as transform, lasso and creating shapes. To edit the actual documentary we used Adobe Premier. This allowed us to cut up the footage we filmed and rearrange it in the correct order. It also allowed us to add effects such as dissolve as well as graphics to be used during interviews. We created the radio trailer using Adobe Premier by unlinking the audio from the video and editing that alone. It also meant we could easily extract audio from the documentary to use.
Evaluation
Again with the evaluation I used a variety of technologies. I used microsoft word to create annotated answers for question one in which i compared screenshots and my Print advert to professional media products. I used the internet site prezi for question three to create an interesting presentation to display the feedback that i receieved for my finished texts. To create the collages for this question i used dobe Photoshop Elements 8. This allowed me to add and manipulate images to make a collage relevant to the question.
Throughout every stage from the planning to the evaluation I have kept a record of my work using Blogger.com. This site has allowed me to clearly display my work in the orrect order that it was completed. It also allows my to display videos so i have been able to upload my finished texts as well as the existing products that I have used to study codes and conventions.

Production of Radio Trailer

This screenshot shows how we used adobe premier to make our radio trailer. The voiceover is inserted alongside the music bed we used. Also you can see in this screen shot how we inserted extracts from the various interviews within the documentary.
