Filming: History Montage

We used images of famous comedians from the history of comedy including Tommy Cooper, Laurel & Hardy and Morecombe & Wise. We tried to use creative camera work to make these cutaways interesting for example we used zooming, panning and tilted frames.

Filming: Comedy Trust Under 18s Show

We were invited by the Director of the comdey trust Sam Avery to attend and film an under 18s comedy night. We filmed four performers sets so that we would have cutaway material to use inbetween interviews. Problems that we encountered during the filming of the show included incorrect lighting, sound not being picked up by the camera and unfunny comedians.

Filming: Comedy trust Under 18s - Interviews with Yound Performers and Headline act Mike Gunn

We filmed four interviews from the under 18s show with the 3 performers: Callum Oakley, Keifer Lewis and Ryan B.L as well as and interview with the headline performer Mike Gunn. We framed each interview to either the left or right of the screen as well as using the rule of thirds and being in close up. There was no relevant mise-en-scene we could have used as the show was held in the restaurant so we filmed in front of a plain wall and framed the shot so the persons face took up the majority of the screen. A problem we encountered was that the lighting was to the side of the interviewee so their faces are dimly lit.

Filming: Interview with Comedy Trust

We interviewed Sam Avery who is the Director of The Comedy Trust.. This is an organisation which is responsible for comedy related things such as the Liverpool Comedy Festival and the Stand Out Programme for under 18s to get into stand up comedy. We filmed the interview in the Rawhide Comedy Club in the Royal Court Theatre where the organisation is based. Th emise-en-scene we used was the stand up stage with the microphone on a stand. We used this because it is an iconic image that relates immediately to Stand up comedy.

Filming: Voxpops

We went to Liverpool city center to film voxpops in which we asked people what their favourite jokes were and filmed them telling it. The majority of voxpops that we filmed were successful but there were a number of difficulties that we faced including lighting being behind the person, incorrect framing and loss of sound.

Filming: Interview with Laughology

We filmed an interview Stephanie Davies who is the creative director of laughology which is a company that uses laughter to help people in different ways. The mise-en-scene we used was a collage we made of people laughing which directly relates to the topic of the interview.
